Tell Me More...
Salvia Oriental Dove is a relatively recent addition to the Salvia family, introduced at the virtual Chelsea Flower Show in 2020. Dainty, open-mouthed blooms in shades of mauve, lilac and purple are edged with a pretty, white margin, reminiscent of the wings of a dove. Flowering from April to September the blooms are held above the tidy, green, sage-scented foliage, making it a wonderful plant to place near a path or seat where the sweet, sage-like aroma is released when the foliage is brushed.Much loved by bees and other pollinators, Salvia Oriental Dove will flourish in either borders or containers. Prefers a site in well-drained soil which benefits from sun or part shade. Reaches a height of 90cm with a spread of 60cm. A hardy (H4), evergreen perennial which can be grown outside all year round providing it is not waterlogged over winter. Extra winter protection is only required during the very harshest of weather (below -10C), during milder winters foliage remains.
