Tell Me More...
Seas of ornamental sage will bring swaying movement throughout the garden when in flower from June to August each year. Salvia nemorosa ‘Blauhugel’ also has upliftingly aromatic foliage which emerges in March and is retained until November. The narrow, rough, grey-green leaves create a luxurious contrast to the spires of flowers above and the whole ensemble makes a fantastic edge to a border or pathway - where plants will release their herby scent when brushed past or gently pressed. Flowers are tall, up to 50cm in height, and have a strong, upright habit which makes them ideal for cutting so you can appreciate the violet-blue blooms inside your home too. Salvia nemorosa ‘Blauhugel’ prefers well-drained soil of any kind except heavy clay. Drought tolerant once established, plants like a spot in full sun or partial shade with any aspect other than north facing. A fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which will spread out as far as 50cm to bring beneficial, weed-suppressing groundcove
