Salvia Cool Violet is a small, bushy, shrub-like salvia with cooling, violet purple flowers. An easy-going plant which is drought tolerant and loved by bees. Salvia 'Cool Violet' is perfect when positioned near a path or seat in order the fragrance will be released when the foliage is brushed against. Happy in either a container or border, as long as it does not sit in permanently wet soil. The word Salvia is derived from the Latin 'salvere' meaning 'to save' as it has been used medicinally for centuries. Salvia Cool Violet is a half-hardy perennial (H3) which likes a position in full sun and will reach a height of 80cm with a spread of 60cm. Extra winter protection is only required when temperatures drop below -5C; during milder winters foliage remains.
