Blooming prolifically from June to September, Salvia coccinea 'Brenthurst' is a bushy, upright plant with spikes of delicate, soft, coral flowers. Rather uniquely, these are encased in dark green bracts, providing a striking and dramatic contrast. 'Brenthurst' looks particularly good in combination with buff-coloured ornamental grasses such as stipa or deschampsia, along with the steely purple of eryngium, and the soft orange of Geum 'Totally Tangerine'. Salvias also make good companions for spring bulbs, neatly taking over the space by filling out to cover foliage as it dies back. Flowers are highly valued by pollinators. Prefers light, moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or light dappled shade. H&S: 60cm. Hardy (to -10 C) deciduous perennial.Read our salvia growing guide here.
