Tell Me More...
The latest addition to the popular 'Lips' series, Salvia Amethyst Lips bears a profusion of nectar-rich, open-mouthed flowers in a mix of white and purple. For much of the flowering season, blooms are bicolour, though all white or all purple can appear from time to time, often because of extreme temperatures. Foliage has a light, blackcurrant aroma when brushed against. This compact, tough, drought-proof perennial makes a charming, long-flowering addition to a sunny border or container display. Prefers light, moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or light dappled shade. H&S: 90cm x 60cm. Hardy subshrub, capable of withstanding temperatures between -5 and -10 C. Protect from excessive winter wet to increase chances of survival, perhaps planting in the rain shadow of a wall, tree, or shrub.
