Tell Me More...
An unusual, exciting member of the Salvia family. Salvia 'African Sky' produces large and exquisitely blue flowers with open mouths and intriguing arched stamen. Blooms appear in June and last right through to the first frosts in November time - that is six months of flowers from this half-hardy, herbaceous perennial. Ideal for planting in a container - so that pots can be moved into a greenhouse for protection over winter - plants can also be lifted or can be grown as annuals in areas of the UK where temperatures drop below -5 degrees outdoors. The clear blue colour evokes thoughts of cloudless, summer skies - directly represented in the wonderful name of the plant. Ideal for planting or placing near an area of traffic in the garden as the sweet, sage-like aroma will be released whenever the foliage is brushed past.Salvia' African Sky' prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade with either a south or west facing aspect. Plants mature to a height of 80cm and a spread of up to 60cm. Ideal for gravel gardens and rockeries too.
