Tell Me More...
Rubus fruticosus 'Tiny Black' is a relative newcomer which has been carefully bred for those of us with smaller spaces who still wish to 'grow their own' fruits and vegetables. Ideal for a pot on a patio or balcony, where delicious crops are easily reached and scrumptiously snackable.Rubus fruticosus 'Tiny Black' produces flowers from April to May which provide excellent sustenance to bees who help to pollinate the blooms. Plants then develop juicy berries from July to October which are very close in taste the wild blackberries, with the perfect mix of sweet and sour. Excellent eaten fresh with a tangy twist or perfect in pies, jams and tarts. Any surfeit of fruit will freeze well for use later in the year.Plants prefer a site with moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Unfussy on aspect, Rubus fruticosus 'Tiny Black' is a hardy, deciduous perennial shrub. Plants are thornless so no need to wear gloves when handling or picking and your bushy shrubs will reach a height and spread of 30-50cm.
