Tell Me More...
An upright rosemary with a robust growth habit and excellent flavour. Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Proper Job!’ is a rosemary which, as the name suggests, ‘does what it says on the tin’. Perfect for those of you looking to plant a medium sized shrub which can be pruned to keep its shape and will respond well to planting in containers, borders, vegetable gardens and potagers. Pretty blue flowers are borne between April and June – a fantastic early source of sustenance for pollinators. Not only does this beauty add fantastic flavour to your cooking, stems can be snipped and layered between clothing for a subtle, organic fragrance and a means of repelling insects. Leaves can be made into tinctures and stems can be useful, fragrant skewers for the barbecue. Plants can even be used ‘en masse’ to create a mid-height, fragrant hedge which can be trimmed after flowering to keep its neat shape. As a Mediterranean shrub, Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Proper Job!’ prefers a spot in well-drained soil which is poor to moderately fertile and benefits from full sun or partial shade. A hardy (H4), evergreen shrub which reaches a height of 90cm with a spread of 50cm.
