Tell Me More...
A Hybrid Tea variety, which is amongst the most popular of rose types for its classical looking, large, spiralled blooms held as single flowers on tall, sturdy stems. Rosa 'Black Baccara' stands in a class of its own with darkly exotic red, almost black, flowers which have a rich, velvety appearance. The foliage is deep green and acts as the perfect foil to the intensity of the flowers. This is accompanied by a fragrance akin to ylang ylang and black pepper - sweet with a hint of spice - which will perfume both the garden and a vase. Plant in containers, raised bed and borders for flowers repeatedly from July to September. Ideal as a cut bloom for the home or a bouquet and a draw to bees and other wildlife.Rosa 'Black Baccara' prefers a site in full sun with any aspect other than north-facing. Plant this fully hardy shrub in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil and it will reach a height of up to 90cm, with a spread of 45cm.
