Tell Me More...
An exceptionally tall and beautiful repeat-flowering shrub, Rosa 'Madame Alfred Carrire' bears large, cup shaped double blooms in a creamy white shade, often tinged with pink. Flowering commences in July and continues repeatedly through to September, remember to deadhead as blooms fade to ensure this. Growth is strong, bushy and upright with plenty of dark green foliage and very few thorns to the stems - flowers have a delightful, strong, sweet, fruity perfume. First introduced back in the late 1800s, this climbing rose is ideal for a wall, pergola, trellis or archway where it will reach up to 5 metres in height with a spread of 2.5m. Rosa 'Madame Alfred Carrire' will tolerate a wide range of conditions, though prefers an open site in full sun with moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. A hardy, deciduous shrub which does not need winter protection throughout most of the UK.
