A vigorous growth habit and long, arching stems mean Rosa ‘American Pillar’ is an ideal choice to having scrambling through a large tree, or over a building. As with all rambling roses, flowers appear in one, spectacular flush in midsummer; large clusters of small (5cm wide) single, hot pink blooms with white centres. Resembling a more intensely coloured wild rose, ‘American Pillar’ offers natural beauty with a subtle twist. Flowers give way to an attractive display of large hips, extending the season of interest further and providing a food source for hungry birds. Foliage is glossy and dark green. Flowers are lightly scented. Roses will tolerate a wide range of conditions, though prefer an open site in full sun, and moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil. H: 5m S: 4m. Hardy, deciduous climbing shrub.
