Tell Me More...
One of the darkest of the family, Rodgersia Bronze Peacock is special, offering presence, seasonal interest, and individuality to your cool, damp, shady spaces. Thick and sculptural, lush, new foliage emerges rich, bronze-red with bright green veining in spring, looking rather like a peacock's tail - hence the plants name. This colouring continues to appear, even in July when the earlier leaves have already matured to dark green. The show draws to a close with a final flourish when fantastic autumnal shades flush the foliage.Often grown, and much loved, just for the magnificent foliage, tall sprays of bright pink flowers create yet more interest as they are held on bright red stems above the foliage; looking almost 'Astilbe-like', dark seed heads follow.Architecturally daring, compact, and well-behaved, Rodgersia Bronze Peacock is perfect for borders and containers Rodgersia Bronze Peacock is fully hardy to -15 C, possibly lower in a sheltered spot. Reaching a height of 60cm, spreading to 60-90cm, preferring to grow in moist, well-drained soil, in part shade. Becoming dormant over winter, she will sprout again in spring.
