Tell Me More...
An unusual and exciting addition to the rhubarb family, Rheum x hybridum 'Livingstone' is a long-awaited variety which will bring you succulent stems from September to November, as well as in summer. This special variety requires no summer dormancy to produce perfect tasting, immaculately timed stalks as the perfect accompaniment to apples and blackcurrants, as well as strawberries, for tarts, pies and crumbles.Rheum x hybridum 'Livingstone' is a compact, British-bred strain and because summer dormancy is not required, the high quality, deep red skinned stems can be produced throughout the autumn months. Plant Rheum x hybridum 'Livingstone' in a spot with a south facing aspect in moist, well-drained soil with full sun. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which will appreciate some bone meal and organic matter incorporated on planting and as an annual top dressing. Reaches a height of 50cm, with a spread of 1m.
