Tell Me More...
A strong network of branches is covered by glossy, evergreen leaves for valuable screening and structure in the garden. In June and July masses of pretty white flowers emerge to the delight of both you and your garden pollinators. Then, from autumn, bright yellow berries add colour and provide an excellent source of sustenance for birds and other wildlife. Pyracantha coccinea ‘Sunny Star’ is a new variety and part of the ‘Star’ series which are known for having less thorns than many other cultivars – making pruning much easier on your hands! This free-standing shrub makes a fabulous and tightly knit hedge – ideal for protection. Plants can also be trained up a wall or fence and used as a focal point in a container too. Pyracantha coccinea ‘Sunny Star’ will reach a mature height of 3 metres and spread around 2 metres. A fully hardy (H7), evergreen shrub which does not need additional winter protection throughout the UK. Prefers fertile, moist and well-drained soil which is not acidic in pH. Position in sun or partial shade with any aspect other than north facing.
