Develop your passion for purple with Penstemon ‘Purple Passion’ with clusters of large, dark purple, trumpet-shaped blooms held on strong stems above green semi-evergreen foliage from May to October, often longer. Penstemon are the insomniac party lovers of the plant world which do without sleep for six months of the year. Summer arrives and your Penstemon start flowering, summer ends and they are still blooming, autumn comes around and they still show no signs of tiring. Tell them the party is over and they will just laugh! You will not need to battle against slugs and snails either, as Penstemon are not eaten by any garden pests and yet loved by bees. These gorgeous plants do not mind drought or heavy rain and are perfect for containers, borders, in sun or partial shade. Being a hardy perennial (H4), Penstemon ‘Purple Passion’ will not require any winter protection in most of the UK and will reach a height of approximately 90cm, spreading to between 45-60cm.
