Tell Me More...
Such a fascinating and unusual colour combination, Loropetalum Black Pearl creates a head-turning spectacle, as fragrant, tassel-shaped brightly coloured flowers appear against dark foliage with a purple sheen. Fresh new heart-shaped growth appears in late autumn, prior to the arrival of the fluffy, scented, cerise flowers which almost cover the greenery throughout the winter and spring. The contrast against the dark foliage is quite breath taking. Dense compact foliage means Loropetalum Black Pearl makes a wonderful windbreak, low screen or hedge, and can even be trained and shaped up a wall, trellis or obelisk. Loropetalum prefer to be gown in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Growing to a height and spread of approximately 1-1.5m, Loropetalum Black Pearl is a hardy perennial that would appreciate some extra protection during the very coldest of winters.
