Tell Me More...
Once you have experienced the beautiful abundance of dainty white flowers and inhaled the intoxicating perfume of Jasminum officinale- it is embedded in your memory forever. On a late evening after a hot summer's day, the perfume fills the evening air.Visually, the white, star shaped flowers against the dark green foliage, along with an abundance of pink buds, add to the magnificence of this popular plant when it flowers from June to August. Jasmine are vigorous, deciduous climbing shrubs which hold their delicate leaves from March to September. A hardy climbing shrub tolerating temperatures down to -15 C without protection. These pollinator and wildlife friendly plants reach up to 12 metres tall with 4 metres spread, although stems are pliable enough to be wrapped back on themselves or gently pruned if your garden will struggle to accommodate a climber this size. Plant Jasminum officinale in a sunny, sheltered spot which benefits from moist, well-drained soil and a south or west facing aspect with full sun or partial shade. Happy in containers as well as open ground, perfect for planting near a seating area or entrance.
