An early flowering, vigorous and upright, Hydrangea paniculata ‘Early Harry’ is a relative newcomer which is perfect as a cut flower, as well as a generous, gap-filling shrub. The large, conical-shaped, open blooms are borne from June to September on reddish stems which accent the pink hues of the flowers as each flower matures. Blooms emerge creamy-white, offering a purity which is gently offset by the finely toothed, dark green foliage. Foliage also shifts and changes with time and leaves take on purple and yellow hues in the autumn. As a large hydrangea, rest assured that Hydrangea paniculata ‘Early Harry’ will produce enough flowers to fill fresh vases, cover the upright, mounded shrub and leave some for drying too. What’s more it is as happy growing in a large container as it is in the ground – just remember to keep it watered and fed for best results.
