Tell Me More...
Here is a plant to add a touch of the exotic and the tropical to your garden. The Musa Bajoo Hardy Banana is a fun, interesting and sought-after plant to grow. When fully grown Musa Bajoo is the size of a small tree with outlandish leaves. When the weather turns cold you may think your banana tree is dying. Most certainly not. Consider your banana tree as a hardy herbaceous perennial which dies back in the winter and returns in the Spring. When the Spring warmth arrives, your Musa Bajoo will vigorously regrow; keep well-watered at this stage. By early Summer you will see small yellow flowers and inside the flowers you will see bananas forming. However, the bananas are inedible because they taste dry and bitter. Musa Bajoo is believed to be hardy to minus fifteen degrees Celsius, though it is best to mulch or fleece in the winter. A fascinating and exciting plant to grow and granted the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
