Perfect for smaller places, the large, fragrant, daisy-like blooms of Echinacea Lakota Red, in shades of red, orange and magenta create a stir in your borders and containers. Enjoy the scent while you admire the giant blooms as they are held atop strong stems from mid-summer until the first frosts of autumn. Bring the scent indoors to enjoy in your home, as Echinacea Lakota Red will give you armfuls of cut flowers for vases and arrangements for weeks on end. Bees, butterflies and other pollinators will be tempted as they visit the 9cm blooms for a banquet. Finches and other birds will feed on the seed during winter if the blooms are left. Once mature, little plantlets are produced so you will have more to share. Deer resistant, Echinacea are happy in coastal sites and wildlife gardens. Echinacea are also known as the American Coneflower and have long been used by Native North Americans as a traditional herbal remedy for various ailments - including snake bites. Nowadays, echinacea are commonly used to relieve symptoms of colds and flu. Echinacea Lakota Red prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun and will cope in partial shade. A hardy perennial which will grow to an approximate height of 45cm and spreading 45-60cm. Thriving outside for you to enjoy for years to come with no winter protection required
