An impressively bright display is produced during summer, followed by long pointed pods up to 15cm. Both the blooms and the seedpods are excellent used in flower arrangements, whether fresh or dried. Extremely drought tolerant, so perfect for containers and borders. Your collection comprises; incarnata 'Cinderella' - clusters of bright pink blooms open from jewel-like buds, from July to September, height 1.5m, spread 90cm; incarnata 'Ice Ballet' - fragrant white flowers atop slender stems from July to September, height 1.2m, spread 80cm; tuberosa - bead-like buds open to reveal copious clusters of blazing orange, nectar-rich blooms from June to October, height 75-90cm, spread 60cm. Asclepias are often referred to as swamp milkweed - a name which belies their enchanting qualities. They are bushy, herbaceous perennials hardy to -10 C which prefer to be situated in moist, well-drained soil in a sunny position, tuberosa prefers a slightly drier area.
