This beautiful Allium trifoliatum 'Cameleon' is a member of the ornamental onion family with a trick up its sleeve. Throughout the life of the flowers, which are borne in June, the petals gently and intriguingly change colour. These spherical blooms are a beautiful pink with deeper pink veins when they first appear. As they age, they fade to white but retain their enhancing pink veins. The effect is particularly beautiful when multiples are planted together and the flowers open at slightly different times – offering varying shades along with an ‘en masse’ sense of uniformity. This allium creates a striking focal point and is suitable for containers, rockeries and herbaceous borders. Its shorter stature, at 45cm tall and 20cm spread, makes it ideal for the front of the border. Allium trifoliatum 'Cameleon' bulbs should be planted in September-November and prefer well-drained soil of any kind. Provide spot in full sun with some shelter from strong winds for best results.
