Tell Me More...
Also known as the orchid primrose, Primula vialii grows to a height of around 40cm and has lance-like, slightly fuzzy leaves which form into a basal rosette of light to mid green. From this basal rosette the vibrant violet-pink flower spikes with striking red tips emerge in June and July and are a stunning addition to any garden. This primula has a height of 50cm and will spread to 30cm. It prefers a position at the front of a border in moist soil which has the benefit of partial shade. An ideal plant for a woodland border it enjoys poorly drained soil and would also suit bog gardens or pond edges where provision of sufficient moisture can compensate for a lack of shade. Plant from late Spring to early Autumn to allow your plant to establish prior to the cold of winter and divide large clumps after flowering in Autumn.
