Tell Me More...
Barnhaven are world renowned primrose breeders who produce some of the most spectacular varieties available today. Established in the 1930s they have introduced a wide range of double primula since the 1950s. Primula Barnhaven 'Double Vintage' was introduced in 2016 and offers abundant clusters of fully double flowers held on sturdy, pink stems. This special bloom is a heavenly pale blue colour with obvious striped markings to the interior and exterior of each petal - reminiscent of a spring sky with an abundance of 'mare's tail' clouds spreading across it.Foliage has an intriguing, crinkled texture and grows as generous rosettes which offer weed-suppressing ground cover all year round. Often considered one of the harbingers of spring, primroses are invaluable source of early nectar to flying pollinators. Primula Barnhaven 'Double Vintage' is ideal for planting beneath trees and shrubs or in a container display. Prefers a spot in moisture retentive, humus rich soil which benefits from partial shade. A hardy evergreen perennial which reaches a height and spread of 20cm.
