A cross between an herbaceous peony and a tree peony, Itoh, or intersectional, peonies take the very best features of each variety to bring you a mounded foliage habit along with exceptionally large and generous blooms. Excellent as cut flowers, often with a rose-like perfume, and loved by pollinators – the flowers are not only beautiful in the garden – they will greatly enhance your home too. Rediscovered in the 1960s, after Japanese breeder, Toichi Itoh’s original breeding in the 1940s, these dome-shaped wonders bear their generous flowers from May to June above abundant, richly hued foliage.
