Frilled and ruffled like the exotic birdSaving the best for last, the Tulip Green Parrot Collection are some of the latest tulips to flower but are certainly well worth waiting for. Flamboyant and exciting, the striking blooms are notable for their large, single, cup-shaped flowers with fringed petals. When exposed to full sun, the blooms will open so wide as to almost flatten out, revealing their colourful markings in all of their glory. Parrot tulips are perfect for a sunny border and have an impressive vase-life of over two weeks.Collection comprises; Tulip 'Flaming Parrot' - green buds open to reveal sunny yellow fringed petals which have crimson red flames and a yellow centre, height 60cm; Tulip 'Green Wave' - zingy colours of watermelon, each petal bright green in the middle, fading through creamy yellow to blush pink at the edges, height 60cm; and Tulip 'King Parrot' - a blend of apricot, yellow and green with a touch of pink, later maturing to a deep, tangerine orange, height 40cm.Originating from hot, dry habitats, tulips prefer fertile, sharply drained soil in full sun, with shelter from strong winds. Excessive wet will not be tolerated. Hardy bulbous perennials.
