Dark and delightful compact evergreenPerhaps the most popular Pittosporum because of its decorative purple foliage, its purple flowers, and its fragrance; the small flowers open in May and last through to early July spreading honey-like scent across the garden. Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Tom Thumb' makes excellent low hedging and is a wonderful alternative to Box in the garden as well as being a striking and compact shrub in its own right. Glossy, leathery foliage is mound forming, easily trimmed and appears in decorous shades of green, black and purple. This variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding and dependable garden performance.Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Tom Thumb' prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade which benefits from well-drained soil and any aspect other than north facing. A hardy, evergreen shrub which grows to a maximum of 1m in height with a spread of 60cm. Protect from frost in very harsh winters.
