Pulsatilla vulgaris are perfect for adding a splash of colour to your spring garden. Picturesque Pulsatilla Collection bares clusters of fascinating furry buds, which appear in spring above the rosettes of long, silvery-grey, furry foliage. Each bud opening to display a beautiful, velvety, goblet-shaped flower with a bright, golden yellow centre which will nod on the breeze. Distinctive, silky seedheads follow and are excellent cut for flower arrangements, often staying on the plant for several months. Pulsatilla vulgaris is actually an herb and is also named the Pasque Flower because it flowers around the time of Easter. Once seen growing wild on grasslands in the UK, although now rare due to changes in land use. Picturesque Pulsatilla Collection is happy growing in borders or containers, reaching a mature height and spread of 30cm. Plants come in three varieties - 'Red', 'Purple' and 'Alba' (or white) - and are drought tolerant once established. All prefer to be grown in moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Hardy perennials which do not need winter protection throughout most of the UK and bloom from March to May each year.
