Well-loved as an architectural plant, Phormium make a dramatic statement in your borders or in pots on your patio. Phormium Sundowner is one of the best, giving incredible colour all year round. Broad, sword-like foliage in red, green and gold (hence the name Sundowner), forms stunning evergreen clumps with virtually no maintenance required. Both the yellow flowers that usually appear in summer and the foliage are great for flower arranging and happy in coastal areas. Phormium are a genus of plants within the Hemerocallidaceae family native to New Zealand. It is commonly known as 'New Zealand Flax'. Their fibres have been used in a similar way to Hemp. Phormium Sundowner has received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society for outstanding performance in the garden.Phormium Sundowner prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in sun or part shade reaching a height and spread of approximately 1.8m (6'). Giving you joy for years to come; winter protection is not required.
