A new variety for 2024, Phlox paniculata ‘Zenobia’ is sure to cause a stir with its large flowerheads comprised of rich pink florets with deeper eyes and intriguingly ruffled edges which give flowers a semi-double effect. Blooms are held over neat, upright clumps of bright green foliage from June to September – offering four months of colour along with the dependable and adorable, sweet, phlox perfume. Attractive to pollinators Phlox paniculata ‘Zenobia’ is named after a queen of the Palmyrene Empire, believed to be related to Cleopatra, who challenged the authority of the Romans back in 3rd century AD. This new arrival certainly challenges the traditional appearance of phlox with its fuller, larger and more luxurious appearance.
