Tell Me More...
An exciting new arrival within the ‘Sweet Summer’ family, Phlox paniculata ‘Sweet Summer Surprise’ brings rich purple-pink blooms, tinged with white, to the garden from June to September each year. Crossing between the seasons with beneficial, transitional colour and offering later season sustenance to bees and other pollinators. Plants reach a height of around 80cm and spread to 60cm, and the mounded clusters of blooms will fill containers, borders and vases too. Much sought after, particularly by florists, for their sweet, floral perfume – which will drift across the garden and create a wonderful ambience inside your home. The verdant and vigorous foliage of Phlox paniculata ‘Sweet Summer Surprise’ emerges in April and is retained until autumn time – filling gaps and bolstering containers with lush leaves even before the blooms appear. Plant in moist, well-drained soil of any kind and position in full sun or partial shade with any aspect other than north facing. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which should not need additional winter protection throughout most of the UK.
