Tell Me More...
Despite their dazzling hues, you may smell the sweet perfume of Phlox paniculata 'Spitfire' before it comes into view. This new, exciting variety offers a mixture of pink, orange and red tones all in one plant - making it sizzle like its namesake! Phlox paniculata originate from America, where they grow as a wildflower in many areas. This special variety has, however, been developed to extend the range of colours available, broadening the possibilities for what was a traditional, cottage garden favourite. These developments make them perfect for modern planting schemes too. Phlox paniculata also bring nectar-rich enticement to bees and butterflies and offer long-lasting bloom for vases and bouquets, with neat mounds of five-petalled flowers held on strong stems above bushy foliage from July to September. Phlox paniculata 'Spitfire' is a fully hardy, herbaceous perennial which likes a spot in moist, well drained soil with full sun or partial shade. Lush foliage offers gap filling interest from April to September and plants mature to reach a height and spreads of 75-80cm.
