Tell Me More...
Phlox paniculata ‘David’ has large flowerheads made up of multiple, five petalled blooms and is an award-winning wonder for your summer garden. The large, white, showy flowerheads are held over neat, upright clumps of bright green foliage all summer long, releasing a gentle, sweet fragrance into the breeze. These nectar-rich blooms are loved by bees and butterflies which are sure to visit your garden. Native to North America, phlox were introduced to Europe in the 1700’s. The name stems from the Greek word for ‘flame’ – representative of the way these flowers have shone like torches in our gardens for many years. Phlox paniculata ‘David, holds the RHS award of Garden Merit for outstanding performance in the garden – a well-deserved accolade in our opinion. Easy going and happy in container or herbaceous border, Phlox paniculata ‘David’ also makes and excellent, long-lasting cut flower. Tolerant of most soils with the exception of heavy clay, this phlox prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade with any aspect other than north-facing. Matures to a maximum height of 1.1m with a spread of up to 60cm.
