Tell Me More...
Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile' is a fragrant shrub whose name aptly depicts its appearance. Taken from French the name translates as 'beautiful star' and the single, simple blooms with glowing golden stamen certainly do resemble sparkling stars descended from above and hung decorously on this beautiful shrub. Flowers are born in abundance in June and July with fresh green foliage providing both the perfect backdrop and sustaining interest from March through to October. Not only is this shrub visually delightful, it is a pull for the pollinators and offers the most sensational perfume - either on the plant or as a glorious addition to vases and bouquets. What's more, Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile' holds the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit in recognition of its outstanding performance. Happy either in a container or in the ground and sensational near a path or seat where the perfume can be most enjoyed. Philadelphus 'Belle Etoile' prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or part shade. A hardy, deciduous shrub which reaches 1.5m tall and spreads to 2.5m.
