Tell Me More...
A compact, award-winning version of the much loved and highly fragrant shrub, which reaches a height of 1m with a spread of 1.5m making it perfect for container growing or for tucking into a smaller garden. Whilst it is diminutive in stature it does not lack in the perfume stakes and, like its taller cousins, will fill the garden with fragrance when it flowers from Julne to August. The double blooms resemble a snowy coat and they enrobe the bright green foliage (which emerges in March and is retained through to November). This makes the magical name of this new variety even more fitting - it literally translates as 'ermine coat' and ermine is a fur which was reserved for royalty as it is so pure and beautiful! Philadelphus 'Manteau d'Hermine' is perfect either in a container or in the ground and will pull in pollinators as well as making excellent cut blooms for vases and bouquets. Ideal for planting near a path or seat where the perfume can be most enjoyed. Prefers a spot in moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or part shade. A hardy, deciduous shrub.
