Persicaria amplexicaulis JS Purple Spear is a recent introduction to the persicaria family and offers rich reddish-purple spikes (or spears) holding small, dainty flowers from June to November. A magnet for the bees and other pollinators, plants will naturalise and return year after year, adding their colourful intensity to borders, prairie gardens and meadows. Broad-leaved, mid green herbaceous foliage is held from March to November and offers valuable ground cover for this period. Native to the Himalayas - these plants are fully hardy and resilient perennials. Pair with paler toned blooms, such as lupins or delphiniums for a romantically coloured mid-tier to your planting or jazz things up with blues and purples to add a splash of the exotic. Persicaria amplexicaulis JS Purple Spear should be planted in a moist, well-drained soil which benefits from full sun or part shade, with any aspect other than north facing. Reaches a maximum height of 1.4m with a spread of 1m.
