A magical butterfly magnet, the white stems of Perovskia Little Spire become densely packed with small lavender-blue flowers which appear to shimmer. This colour is enhanced by finely cut grey foliage. A smaller sibling of the well-known Blue Spire, the family are known as 'Russian Sage' - due firstly to the genus being named after the Russian General Perovski who led his soldiers into battle, and secondly because of the sage scent produced whenever the foliage is disturbed.Giving the appearance of being delicate, Perovskia Little Spire is tougher than she looks and is capable of withstanding, cold, drought, heat, pests, and poor soil. The versatility of Little Spire is such, she does not look out of place in whatever planting scheme you choose. An incredible plant which has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society, who have bestowed their esteemed Award of Garden Merit for outstanding performance in the garden.Drought and heat tolerant once established, Perovskia Little Spire prefers to be grown in well-drained soil in full sun, reaching a height and spread of 60cm. Fully hardy to around -15 C, no protection is required over winter in most of the UK.
