Penstemon 'Windsor Red' boasts large bright red, bell-shaped blooms, held in racemes on strong wiry stems above tidy clumps of bright green foliage. Penstemon are often thought of as the perfect perennial. Easy to grow, happy in either borders or containers, not fussy on soil conditions and happy in sun or part shade. Once established Penstemon are oblivious to both drought and rain, resistant to slugs and snails, and loved by our friendly pollinators who will come visiting for a feast.Native to North America and East Asia, Penstemon are one of the most valuable plants for late summer and autumn colour. Thriving in most soil conditions they are very easy to propagate and raise new plants.Penstemon 'Windsor Red' reaches a height of 90cm and 45-60cm wide. Given an RHS hardiness rating of H5, winter protection should not be required across most of the UK, the foliage stays to protect the plant, just needing to be cut back in late May.
