Attractive to bees, butterflies, and pollinators and drought tolerant once established.Penstemon prefer to grow in moist, moderately fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade in any aspect.Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage more flowers.Prune last year's foliage back in spring to about 15cm above ground level to allow fresh growth come through at the base. Propagate by division in spring or softwood cuttings in summer.
