Once established Penstemon are semi-evergreen, oblivious to both drought and rain, resistant to slugs and snails, and loved by our friendly pollinators who will come visiting for a feast.Collection comprises; Pensham 'Czar' - one of the Pensham Penstemon range, unusually large, plum-purple, foxglove-like blooms with clear white throats, height 90cm, spread 45-60cm; 'Maurice Gibbs' AGM - large, red-purple, bell-shaped blooms, height 80cm, spread 45-60cm; and 'King George V' - a profusion of scarlet-red, narrow trumpet-shaped blooms with white streaked throats on dark red wiry stems, height 90cm, spread 45-60cm.One of the most valuable and floriferous perennials you can grow, known commonly as Beardtongue' due to the flower appearing with a downy stamen resembling a tongue.Grow in a sunny or partially shaded position in moist, well-drained soil. Both 'Czar' and 'King George V' can withstand temperatures to around -10 C, but 'Maurice Gibbs' may need some protection as temperatures dip to -5 C.
