The intensity of these exciting new peltatum pelargoniums is the first thing that strikes you. As deep and delicious as a glass of the good stuff! Pelargonium 'Great Balls of Fire', aptly named for their spherical, tightly packed blooms, resemble fire balls of colour. Flowers are held from May to October and noteworthy for their drought and heat tolerance - meaning that they will keep going when many other pelargoniums may wilt and fade.Pelargonium peltatum 'Great Balls of Fire Merlot' produces rich, red flowers with a tinge of blueish purple that enhances their depth of colour. Plants will reach a height and spread of around 30cm and have a semi-trailing habit so will cascade over pots and elegantly arch over baskets in addition to lending vibrancy in your borders. Pelargoniums prefer a site in well-drained soil which benefits from full sun - akin to that which they enjoy in their native Mediterranean environment. Sometimes grown as annuals, plants will need winter protection from temperatures below around 5 C - ideally in a cool, frost-free greenhouse. Grow to reach a maximum of H: 30cm S: 45cm.
