Often seen in images of wooden cottages in the Alps, Pelargonium peltatum 'Cascade Dark Red' is a classic with colourful, perky, long-lasting, and hard-wearing blooms. Extremely floriferous, each bloom consists of 5 long, crimson-red petals. When contrasted against the distinctive, fleshy, ivy leaf shaped foliage, the colour almost seems to pop out. Incredibly eye-catching, as they gently cascade from baskets, window boxes and containers to the delight of bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Preferring to be grown in full sun, in moist, well-drained soil, Pelargonium peltatum 'Cascade Dark Red' will happily tolerate light shade. Growing to a height and spread of around 50cm and trailing down to around 60cm, this South African beauty is a tender annual, with an RHS hardiness rating H1C, so needs to be kept above 5°C. Cuttings can easily be taken to give you more plants the following year.
