Tell Me More...
Forget trudging through fields to find disappointing blackberries buried amongst a thorny mass of brambles - instead, imagine picking succulent, sweet fruits from this thornless Rubus 'Dwarf Purple Oval' in the comfort of your own garden! Pretty and compact enough for potager style planting, this hardy fruiting shrub is perfect for a pot or more confined space as it grows to a daintier height and spread of 90cm. Position in full sun and plant in any nutrient rich soil with a neutral pH. A bumper crop of luscious berries is produced between August and September - perfect for pies, jams and savoury dishes - or eating fresh from the plant. Remember to protect your harvest from the birds by using netting or other deterrents. In the autumn, prune by removing canes that have fruited this year, and tie in any canes which have not yet fruited - these will provide a crop next year. Mulch well in spring. Hardy fruit shrub.
