Paeonia lactiflora 'Salmon Dream' (peony 'Salmon Dream')Tidy and compact peonyA small, early-mid flowering cultivar (late spring to early summer), Paeonia lactiflora 'Salmon Dream' bears semi-double blooms, pale salmon pink with a satin sheen, and a mass of golden stamens at the centre. Flowers open to cup-shaped, flattening as they mature. Foliage is deeply cut, glossy and dark green, tinged red on first emerging in spring. A soft and delicate appearance belies the tough nature of this peony, derived from a species found growing wild in Siberia, Mongolia, China, and Tibet. This clump-forming herbaceous perennial makes a long-lived addition to the garden, though any form of disturbance is resented so choose a planting spot carefully. Ideal for a mixed perennial planting scheme, or as a lower storey plant around shrubs. Plant with a later flowering variety such as 'Dr Alexander Fleming' to extend your display.Prefers deep, fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. H&S: 75cm x 75cm. Hardy herbaceous perennial.
