Rare & Unusual Lady Slipper Orchids

Since the mid-18th century, the ever-elusive Lady Slipper Orchid has long been highly sought after by plant collectors. Although it was declared as officially extinct by 1917 and regarded as one of the rarest flowers in mainland Britain, advances in micropropagation have ensured conservation of the species and it has become protected enough that it can be offered for sale.

Highly regarded by garden enthusiasts as jewels for the spring garden and with experts creating new and improved hybrids, Cypripediums are becoming even more sought after and attractive. Hardy to below -20°C, they will easily cope with frost, and despite their unusual appearance they are fairly undemanding and will thrive in dappled shade.
