Tell Me More...
Nodding blooms of the award-winning native wonder Narcissus pseudonarcissus subsp. Pseudonarcissus will brighten the dullest spring days. Also known as the Lent, or Easter, Lily as bulbs bloom around this time of year. This wild daffodil is rare to find, though when you do discover them, they are usually found growing in abundance throughout grassland, orchards and damp woodland. These are the type of daffodils William Wordsworth stumbled upon as he 'wandered lonely as a cloud', and they have also inspired many botanical artists to capture the beauty of canvas. Soft yellow petals hold brighter yellow trumpets looking slightly untamed, as wildflowers do, on stems up to 30cm tall. Plant your bulbs in autumn, in a sunny spot on well-drained soil at a depth of 10cm. Narcissus pseudonarcissus subsp. Pseudonarcissus will then bloom the following spring and for many to come. Hardy, bulbous perennials which look wonderful planted in drifts to naturalise as they do in the wild.
