Tell Me More...
A poeticus variety of narcissus with large blooms up to 8cm wide. Narcissus ‘Actaea’ is an heirloom narcissus which was classified in 1927 – although it is new to us for 2024. Currently enjoying a resurgence of interest these are delicate and inspiring blooms with an intense, sweet fragrance that will drift across spring gardens throughout April and May each year. Even better, this variety will eagerly naturalise in the right conditions to bring you armfuls of scented blooms year on year. Happy in both containers and open ground – ‘Actaea’ reaches a height of 45cm with a spread of 10cm. Stems are long and slender, making them perfect as cut flowers for adding to a vase inside your home, where their wonderful perfume will create a fragrant welcome. Plant Narcissus ‘Actaea’ in fertile, well-drained soil of any kind. Position in full sun or partial shade and these hardy (H6) bulbous perennials will delight you and your garden visitors for years to come.
