Tell Me More...
This Chinese beauty is named after the ancient capital of the Manchu dynasty. However, Mukdenia rossii ‘Karasuba’ is better known by its common name, Crimson Fans, which pays tribute to this plant’s fascinating foliage. Your herbaceous mukdenia is a deciduous variety. A low mound of large, long-stalked leaves emerge in April. This maple-like foliage first appears in a bright shade of bronze-green and gradually deepen in hue. In autumn, your Crimson Fans provides punchy colour when deep crimson highlights appear on the leaves before the plant eventually dies back. Delightful sprays of small creamy flowers offer added interest between March and May. The vibrant foliage on your plant embellish a woodland area, a sheltered garden bed or a patio container. This plant is also a superb choice for a border edge where it can nestle under shrubs or roses. Mukdenia rossii ‘Karasuba’ is a slow-spreading plant which naturalises in your garden to provide weed-suppressing ground cover. Well-drain
