A less vibrant, yet equally stunning, cousin of the coveted Himalyan Blue Poppy. Nonetheless this is an unusual and exciting plant to introduce to your garden and admire closely as it produces a succession of white, tissue-like blooms from May to July. Just perfect for a white woodland landscape and sensational with native bluebells for fresh and transitional planting. Meconopsis baileyi ‘Alba’ is as pure as the snowy mountain tops from whence it hails. Further enhanced by the sunshine yellow centre and blue-green fuzzy foliage which is held from April through to August. Native to the mountains of China and the Himalayas, Meconopsis will grow almost anywhere, including rock gardens, if provided with appropriate levels of shade. Plant your Meconopsis baileyi ‘Alba’ in moist, well-drained soil which has an east or west facing aspect and dappled shade. Avoid harsh sunshine as this will frazzle the delicate petals. A hardy, herbaceous perennial which reaches a mature height of around 1m and will spread to around 50cm.
