Providing year-round interest, the small, glossy green leaves release a pleasant fragrance whenever crushed or bruised. Each summer, an abundance of delicate, creamy-white, star-shaped flowers adorn the green backdrop. Slightly fragrant they attract bees and butterflies. These are followed by small berries that add further decorative charm in autumn and can be used in culinary dishes.
The ‘Marvellous Myrtus’ collection comprises; communis AGM – Common Myrtle, purple berries, height and spread 3m; communis subsp. tarentina ‘Microphylla’ – Small-leaved Myrtle, white-pink berries, height and spread 1.5m; communis subsp. tarentina AGM – Tarentum Myrtle, white berries, height and spread 1.5m.
